Week of August 19th

Dear 3rd Grade Families:
We would like to invite you to Curriculum Night for your 3rd grade student coming up on Tuesday, August 20th, from 6:00-7:30pm.  Please note that this is an adults only event, and that all presentations are tailored for parents and not students.  Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions.
Over the summer, our library was completely renovated and updated to help make time in the library enjoyable and more functional.  We encourage you to consider spending some time with us and enjoy the new surroundings by volunteering to help us during our weekly library time.  Our time is on Tuesdays, from 2:00-2:20pm, and we could use help with reading to students or helping with the checkout process. Our wonderful Librarian has set up links for our families to sign up for this rewarding experience - please take a look at the times available - we value our volunteer’s time and are grateful for their contribution to our community.  Many thanks! 3A Library Volunte…

Dear 3rd Grade Families: The first full week of school was great! The students are showing respect and responsibility in following procedures and taking ownership of their work. Thank you for all you do at home to reinforce these skills. Here is what we are looking forward to next week:
Literature: We will be sequencing events in a story. Poems went home last week, students will be reciting the poem “Eletelephony” the week of August 26th.
Spalding: We will be reviewing WPR/OPR (Written Phonogram Review/Oral Phonogram Review), setting up our notebooks, and reviewing rule pages.
Math: We will be starting rocket math and will be focusing on rounding numbers to ones, tens, and hundreds.
Science: We will be discussing the differences between vertebrates/invertebrates and cold blooded/warm blooded animals.
History: We will be going over world rivers and identifying the countries in which they reside.
Grammar: We will be reviewing analogies and will be going over parts of speech.

A reminder about snacks in the classroom:
Some of our classrooms are nut free due to severe allergies.  Please check with your child’s teacher before sending in any snacks that contain nuts. Nuts are allowed during lunch time as we have a designated area for students with nut allergies.  Snack items should be limited to dry snacks that do not require utensils.  Yogurts, apple sauce or dips should be limited to lunch options.  Thank you for helping us keep our carpets free of stains and odours.

Welcome to Archway Lincoln 3A! Mr. Bishop and I are looking forward to a great year!

I have been a faculty member at Lincoln since it opened. The first year I taught 5th grade, but since then I have worked in 3A. I love the curriculum we study in 3rd Grade, and I look forward to leading the Math, Spalding, and Grammar lessons. My favorite part about working at Lincoln is the emphasis placed on virtue formation and character development. I look forward to partnering with you as we help your student grow academically and morally!

Mr. Bishop has been teaching at Archway Lincoln since 2017. He started as a Teacher Assistant in 3C, and is excited to be with Miss Pape in 3A this year! He will be leading the Literature, Writing, History, and Science classes. He is ready to jump into the new school year and meet our new scholars!

Please join us for Meet the Teacher Night on Tuesday, July 30th.

We will collect the students’ school supplies on that evening, so please bring those with you. If you o…
